About
I am Tamen Dutta. I photograph landscapes: long walks, early starts, and weather that rarely cooperates. Every image here was made in the field, on foot, waiting for the light to do what it was going to do anyway.
The work moves between Iceland’s coasts and glaciers, the high passes of Spiti and Ladakh, and long nights under dark Himalayan skies. Some frames are a single exposure; the deep-sky work is stacked from hours under the same sky.

The work
Six collections. The newest and deepest is Iceland: ten days around the ring road in autumn, from a fresh lava field on Reykjanes to a last aurora over Kirkjufell. Behind it sit years of Himalayan roads and nights spent pointed at the sky.

Made in the field
A photograph of a place should feel like standing in it. That takes time on the ground: scouting in flat light, coming back when the weather turns, sleeping in the car because the forecast says the cloud will break at five.
Most frames here took two or three visits; a few took years. The moon phases above are not decoration. The night work runs on them, and the calendar is planned around the dark half of the month.
